What is Pediatrics? Pediatric programs focus on providing a wide spectrum of care for infants, children and adolescents up to the age of 18 years-old, aiding in their physical, social and mental health development and growth. What can my child expect from the Pediatric Team? Our team of dedicated nurses and healthcare professionals will assist pediatric clients by providing services to assist with a wide range of health needs such as complex respiratory medical conditions requiring tracheostomy airway management and ventilation. Along with their respiratory needs, our pediatric clients typically have additional medical and/or developmental conditions requiring 24/7 monitoring and support. Along with this we also develop key sensory processing skills to managing behavioural difficulties. Our pediatric programs determine which areas are presenting the greatest challenges for your child, and then work to create a manageable plan towards meaningful goals, right from the start. We begin by carrying out an individualized assessment according to what is most comfortable and convenient for you and your family, whether that be at home, in school or in the community. Through the assessment, we gain valuable insight into your child's unique health needs. We believe the most impactful programs are those that recognize the important role the rest of the family plays in the childs development. In this way, interactive, motivating activities are designed with parents and caregivers having an active participatory role in helping to formulate program goals. Above all, our programs work to nurture the physical, mental and emotional well-being of your child throughout their development, so that they can learn the tools they need to succeed and build resiliency with each new day. Our pediatric assessments focus on: Head to toe Assessment: To gain health history Social skills: Attention, concentration, behaviour Fine motor: Handling toys, crayons, cutting with scissors, handwriting Gross motor: Sitting, walking, jumping, running, skipping Visual motor: Throwing and catching, copying shapes, letters or numbers Visual perceptual: Recognizing shapes, letters and numbers Sensory motor: Recognizing textures, hugging, swinging Self-help skills: Feeding self, dressing
