About this service
Margarets helps individuals with mental health challenges find support while they are incarcerated and/or as they leave the criminal justice system each year.
We Provide Support & Advocacy
The justice system can be the first point of contact and opportunity of access to support for those experiencing mental health illness. We know that any length of time in custody may aggravate pre-existing mental health conditions. This can harm recovery and prevent a successful transition back into the community.
Margarets Mental Health and Justice Program offers intensive individual assistance and advocacy for those experiencing mental health issues and who are accused of committing low-risk offences.
