About this service
The community healing project is a mental health based initiative which targets community violence, and takes a youth friendly approach in battling the stigma surrounding mental health in neighbourhoods all around Toronto .
Through a partnership with the City of Toronto, the Community Healing Project serves youth in two Toronto communities- Jane and Finch and Kingsview Village. Trained community healers from each respective community facilitate workshops to youth on topics that address root causes of youth violence and gang involvement. Workshops also support the development of young peoples mental health literacy and resiliency to trauma, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) developed due to community violence.
