About this service
HFHC is a program designed to support newcomer families in recognizing and addressing family and community violence while integrating into Canadian society. The program trains peer leaders and community facilitators from Iranian, Afghan, Somali, Arabic, and Nigerian communities to create a welcoming environment for parents, women, seniors, and youth. Through workshops and peer-support groups, newcomers can learn about Canadian rights and laws, parenting, communication skills, and intergenerational challenges. Youth-focused sessions address self-identity, peer pressure, leadership skills, and navigating the education system in a culturally appropriate setting.
