About this service
What is a Driving Assessment? Our Driving Assessments include comprehensive evaluations conducted by occupational therapists and driving instructors to assess an individuals ability to drive safely and independently. We have sites in Ontario and BC that are also utilized by the Ministries of Transportation as Functional Assessment Centres. What can I expect from a Driving Assessment? Whether your doctor has recommended an assessment to make sure you or a loved one is safe or youve been in a car or work-related accident and are experiencing driving or passenger-related fear and/or anxiety, we provide driver assessments and instruction (for those who require it) to help you get back behind the wheel safely. Our team of occupational therapists and driving instructors are committed to ensuring that drivers with cognitive, visual, physical or mental health challenges maximize their opportunities to navigate the road as competent, independent drivers and, if required, use modifications that are customized to their unique needs. Our driving assessment process consists of two parts a general assessment of physical function, vision, perception, attention, motor function and reaction time, in addition to an actual driving assessment on the road. Based on the results, the team will make recommendations to ensure your safety and promote independence. Recommendations might include specific training or therapy modules, treatment sessions, and adaptive driving equipment that might be needed.
