About this service
DLS represents people charged with criminal offences at each of the five courthouses in Toronto. Our services our limited to people charged with summary conviction offences (e.g. assault, theft, fraud, threatening, failure to comply) and who have been denied a Legal Aid Certificate because the Crown is not seeking jail. We will attend all court appearances from the initial appearances in set date court to the resolution of the charges, including both guilty pleas and trials.
In partnerships with volunteer lawyers in the community, we also represent people who are appealing their conviction and/or sentence to the Superior Court of Justice.
