About this service
Our culinary arts training program, Cooking for Life, gives youth hands-on training they can use in the hospitality industry and beyond.
Led by a professional chef instructor in our restaurant-training kitchen, this pre-employment program runs on the same expectations as any workforce. Some of the learning outcomes include:
- Time management
- Discipline
- Teamwork
- Accountability
- A sense of personal growth
- The practical nature of the program allows youth of all learning levels and abilities to participate.
Our rooftop garden is a favourite for young people enrolled in Cooking for Life. In the summer months, we grow vegetables and herbs for dishes made in the program and for the Covenant House cafeteria.
