Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is one of the most difficult issues that a person can face. Also referred to as Lou Gehrigs Disease, ALS is a degenerative disease that affects the central nervous system and impairs the ability of the brain to control the movement of muscles.
As the disease progresses, people become more paralyzed. Its this progression that can make caring for ALS one of the more difficult treatments for families to undertake. As a result, the need for additional care personnel becomes more essential to long-term care plans.
