About this service
Join Aphasia and Communication Disabilities Program! We are a supportive community of: People living well with aphasia and other communication disorders and their families, who know what youre going through Communication disorders professionals (registered Speech-Language Pathologists and Communicative Disorders Assistants) who follow the Life Participation Approach to Aphasia Trained and dedicated volunteers Our Mission Improve Communication Enhance Quality of Life Support Independence Encourage Participation in Community Life Provide Communicative Access When you join ACDP, youll get access to: Communication Assessment (new clients) New electives to choose from every three months Opportunities to practice and maintain communication skills through real-life conversation with people who know what youre going through An aphasia-friendly communication environment Unlimited programming (depending on space) Flexibility and choice Information, education, and community resources How much does it cost to participate? Our fee is $120 due every three months - under $10 a week. A sliding scale is available if finances are a concern. What kind of programming is available? Home Programs are organized by location and include: Education and information about aphasia Practicing and maintaining communication skills Learning new communication strategies Participating in conversation Exercise Elective Sessions could include: Singing Book Club Thinking Skills Healthy Lifestyles Aphasia Awareness and Advocacy NOTE: Electives change every three months. Where are home programs available? Right now, were offering ACDP programming online. Once its safe to offer in-person options, well have ACDP home programs in: Whitby Vaughan Stouffville Newmarket Maple You will attend the location thats closest to you. How do I join ACDP?
