About this service
Free home care services are available in Ontario through Community Care Access Centres (CCACs), supportive housing programs and other programs. There is no income testing for home care provided by CCACs although other programs may provide services only to low-income persons.
The largest home care program is the CCAC program. CCACs are funded by the provincial government. CCACs contract independent agencies to provide a range of services to eligible persons. These include: (1) professional services such as nursing, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy; (2) personal support services such as help with taking a bath, eating, getting dressed and other activities of daily living; and (3) homemaking services. The Home Care and Community Services Act and the Community Care Access Corporations Act regulate the structure and activities of CCACs.
