Children's Centre Thunder Bay - Counselling & Therapy

Counselling Services involve both individual and family therapy. The service begins with an assessment, with consistent reassessments on an ongoing basis. This service may be beneficial for children who are experiencing significant emotional, social, and/or behavioural issues such as trauma, mood swings, depression, anxiety, attention deficit issues, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, self-esteem, food-related issues, peer issues, family conflict, and issues of identity. Services offered are designed to increase skill and coping ability, improve the family's ability to deal with a child's mental health issues, as well as to enhance the parent/child relationship and contribute to the child's overall well-being, with the ultimate goal of supporting families in living healthier and happier lives. Options for support in this area may include social skills development, parenting education and support, and family and individual counselling when appropriate.
