Due to the visionary leadership of the late Xavier Michon (1920-1987), Founder of the Thunder Bay Indian Friendship Society (1964). Xavier, in addition to key members of the community, realized that Aboriginal families, for health reasons, education, and employment opportunities arrived in the City of Thunder Bay needing safe and affordable housing. The Native People of Thunder Bay Development Corporation was incorporated in 1973. Today

The Corporation's present mandate is to provide rental homes to Aboriginal families and Senior Citizens and to provide a support service to those Tenants in our portfolio.
