St Joseph's Villa

St. Josephs Villa is a long-term care home accommodating 128 residents in Sudbury. Built on 28.4 acres of beautifully wooded property at Laurentian University near the site of the new Northern Ontario School of Medicine, it is situated on South Bay Road, with a beautiful view of Lake Ramsey and the surrounding wilderness. St. Josephs Villa of Sudbury Inc. (SJV) was provincially incorporated and received its letter patent as a non-profit corporation on September 13, 2002. The objective of St. Josephs Villa was to establish, equip, staff, maintain and operate a Long Term Care Facility of which it has done since its opening on December 1, 2003. Guided by our core values of service, integrity, dignity and excellence, our approach to holistic care respects the unique needs and fosters the spiritual, physical, and emotional well-being of our residents, staff and volunteers. These values are reflected in the manner in which our staff and volunteers care for our residents. Designed to fit into the natural topography of the Sudbury landscape, the SJV has spacious living areas and beautiful dining areas with spectacular views of Lake Ramsey. Its indoor and outdoor sacred spaces include a chapel, an art gallery and beautiful healing gardens. The Town Square at the heart of the SJV features a hair salon, a caf and access to the Villas gardens, terraces, and wandering paths. St. Josephs Villa contributes to an expanded continuum of care for the Sudbury area and will nurture the body, mind, and spirit of all residents at various stages of their life journey. Based on their needs, residents will receive varying degrees of care, assistance and services aimed at maximizing their quality of life. Our philosophy of care respects the individual needs of the resident, while encouraging independence in activities of daily living. St. Josephs Villa has a Long-Term Care Home Service Accountability Agreement in place with the North East LHIN. The service accountability agreement supports a collaborative relationship between the NELHIN and SJV to improve the health of Ontarians through better access to high quality health services, to coordinate health care in local health systems and to manage the health system at the local level effectively and efficiently.
