About this organization
The purpose of this three-year project (with the goal to extend) is to develop an alternative housing model/program in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties that promotes intergenerational living for Loyalist College students and older adults (55 and over) in the region. Specifically, it will focus on matching international students who have been in Canada for one year with older adults. The objective is to develop and coordinate an innovative home sharing program that assists in matching students (home seekers) with seniors (home providers) to create a mutually beneficial living situation. This project aligns with efforts in the region to be age friendly and supports policy efforts for aging in place and with Loyalists efforts to engage and support international students. It includes the involvement of community partners working in the area of community health, housing, research, education and immigration services.
