The Hazeldean branch reopened to the public on June 14, 2012 following extensive renovations. The branch had been closed since January 2012 to receive the following improvements:
Implementation of the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system, the first at Ottawa Public Library
Expansion of self service, including self-check in stations
Single service point to serve the customer better
Enhanced accessibility and improved public spaces
Improvements to materials processing and movement within the branch
