Makonsag - Sharing in the Circle

We know that there are many Indigenous knowledge experts, elders, artists and musicians who are interested in sharing their culture with young children. The Storyteller program recruits interested individuals and provides them with an orientation and training on how to effectively present activities and opportunities to children zero to six years of age. The Storytellers time at licensed early learning and care programs sharing their knowledge and culture in a variety of ways. It may be by engaging with small groups of children, it may be by telling a story or playing an instrument, it may be by eating a meal with a group or participating in a forest walk. Specific and purposeful orientation and training is necessary as it is known that many schools invite guests to present, but a presentation approach would not effective or age-appropriate with young children.
