About this service
Second Stage Housing may be an option for abused women and their children who need affordable housing while getting back on their feet.
A woman (an abused woman) can apply for Second Stage Housing regardless of whether or not she stayed in the emergency shelter.
Women in Second Stage Housing:
- must apply, be accepted and sign a contract acknowledging their responsibilities as a resident of a Second Stage House.
- may stay for up to 6 months.
- must pay monthly rent based on their income.
- may share the home with other women and their children.
- are responsible for general housekeeping, cutting the grass, shovelling the driveway, etc.
- must work with staff to complete a goal plan for taking the practical steps to independence.
