Hummingbird Lodge

Located at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, in North Bay Ontario, Hummingbird Lodge is an eight-bed provincial forensic inpatient service for adult women (18 yrs+) who are subject to disposition orders from the Ontario Review Board (ORB) under the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC). Hummingbird Lodge offers specialized intensive treatment, rehabilitation and behavioural management services that take into account the differences in the forensic, medical, psychosocial and psychiatric profiles of women. There will be a focus on trauma informed care and servicing clinically complex women whose mental health conditions are impeding their progress through recovery. These women have been found Not Criminally Responsible on account of a mental disorder. In order to provide the best care possible, it is imperative that both the referring facility and Hummingbird Lodge collaborate to review the treatment goals, and are in agreement that Hummingbird Lodge can provide the service and interventions required in order to promote recovery and manage risk. A full range of treatment options are available to patients at Hummingbird Lodge. The Lodge provides a broad range of evidence-based practices and psychotherapeutic modalities in addition to medical/psychiatric care. Interventions, treatment and therapies that will be provided include, but are not limited to: individual psychotherapy behaviour therapy occupational therapy substance abuse assessment and treatment group therapy Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) cultural programming harm reduction approach to self-injury
