The Seniors Mental Health In-patient service consists of two units for patients whose condition is complicated by behavioural and psychological symptoms, and/or medical comorbidities that exceed the capacity of the community, general hospital, complex continuing care and long-term care system. An interdisciplinary team focus is utilized to address the causes of the responsive behaviours through a holistic approach employing best practices in the use of environmental, behavioural and pharmacological interventions. The goal is to facilitate change and improvement through activities that: Improve the patients overall quality of life by enhancing/retaining patient abilities; Promote patient, family and care partner engagement; Provide learning opportunities for increased community capacity; Successfully transition the patient to the most appropriate community discharge destination. Evergreen Lodge- Regional Geriatric Psychiatry Unit North Bay Campus 12 beds Provides comprehensive specialized assessment and treatment of older adults (usually >65 years old) with complex late-onset (age-related) psychiatric disorder(s). Examples include: Late-life mood disorders (e.g. depression, anxiety, mania) Late-life psychotic disorders (e.g. delusional disorder, schizophrenia) Psychiatric disorders and behavioural symptoms associated with complex medical co-morbidities and functional impairment (e.g. Parkinsons disease)
