About this service
The Associate Family option provides nurturing homes, within a family environment, for people who have an intellectual disability. Associate Families support people of all ages, and the Association takes referrals from families and agencies within the York Region.
Close matching of interests and cultures between the people we support and potential Associate Families and, when possible, finding a suitable location, are important components of the matching process. Communication and interaction between the Biological and Associate Families is encouraged and expected.
The guiding principle is that all people, with appropriate support, can have valued roles, participate in, and contribute to the life of the community.
