Tourette Canada, formerly known as the Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada, is a registered (11926 7862 RR0001) charitable organization dedicated to improving the lives of Canadians affected by Tourette Syndrome (TS) and associated conditions. Were national in scope and volunteer based.

Support Tourette Canada offers many kinds of support to a wide range of Canadians, and were always trying to reach even more. Choose a support option on the left depending on who you are (e.g. a parent or educator), or look at at a complete list of programs and services or resources instead. Were always developing and adding new content to the website and beyond. If you have a specific request for support please contact the National Office. Evidence-Based Knowledge CBIT Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics or CBIT CBIT is a powerful behavioural technique supported by research-based evidence demonstrating its ability to reduce tic severity. That a behavioural treatment helps reduce tic severity is a step forward and reflects modern understanding of how the brain can be shaped, using brain plasticity, by the environment. These educational presentations are provided to schools, community and professional groups and cover information on TS, its associated disorders and provide strategies for dealing with Tourette Syndrome. Please note: We are working to revamp our In-Service program offering. We dont have any active In-Service presenters at this time as we begin to re-work this program, but come 2022 we will be back in session. Virtual Community for Tourette Virtual Community for Tourette is an innovative approach to reach individuals and families living with Tourette Syndrome (TS) throughout Canada to continue to offer support and services by leveraging a variety of communication platforms and technology. By utilizing this technology, we can create opportunities for engagement to inform, educate and inspire in order to improve their quality of life and decrease isolation for people with TS. We would like to acknowledge funding support for this program from Employment and Social Development Canada and Tourette Canada. Virtual In-Service Our Virtual In-Service Program provides speakers who give customized presentations on Tourette Syndrome using video-conferencing tools. These educational presentations are provided to schools, community and professional groups where we discuss Tourette Syndrome (TS), associated disorders and strategies on how to support people living with Tourette Syndrome. Virtual Support Groups Virtual Peer Support Groups are small, facilitated peer support groups that meet weekly online using video-conferencing. Only registered group members are able to join the calls. Tourette Canada currently offers 3 different virtual support groups for our members. Each support group meets once a week, for hour long sessions. For more information about our support groups, please see below: Moms of children with Tourette Syndrome This support groups offers a safe, confidential and encouraging environment for moms who have children, of any age, living with Tourette Syndrome. Join us every Monday night at 8:30pm EST to be part of the conversation, and connect with others moms. Adults with Tourette Syndrome This is a great support group for any adult living with Tourette Syndrome. Join us every Tuesday night at 8:00pm EST to join the conversation in this fun, encouraging, safe and empowering group where youll get to connect with other adults throughout Canada. Youth Hangout (13-18) Our Youth Hangout is a safe, encouraging, fun and educational group for youth between the ages of 13 and 18 living with Tourette Syndrome. In this group, youth can look forward to connecting with other youth throughout Canada, sharing some of their experiences, playing virtual games and learning new things about Tourette Syndrome, mental health, and self-care. If you are a parent of a youth, or a youth interested in joining our virtual group please reach out and join us every Wednesday night at 8:00pm EST. Tourette Canada is always looking to continue offering vital programming, services. If you are interested in joining a support group, but dont see an option that would work for you or you have an idea of another support group youd like to see, please contact Mariana directly at services@tourette.ca Adolescence is often a difficult time. Young people are trying to figure out who they are and what they want. The transition to adulthood can be further complicated by having Tourette Syndrome and associated conditions, particularly since TS symptoms tend to peak at this time. Tourette Canada is here to help youth overcome any obstacles they face as they navigate their journey to adulthood. The National Conference on TS+ brings together youth with TS from across the country for a life-changing two-day experience of self-discovery and bonding. This event will return in 2019. Finally, Tourette Canadas Virtual Community Program not only has a youth e-learning module, but it also offers a Virtual Youth Hangout where you can connect every week and talk about anything they like. Virtual Youth Hangout The Virtual Youth Hangout is a facilitated group that meets regularly using our T-Meeting video-conferencing service and is for ages 13-18. ... For Clinicians Tourette Canada recognizes the important role that clinicians play in diagnosing and treating individuals with Tourette Syndrome and we are committed to supporting this important work. In addition to offering electronic resources for clinicians like the Clinical Guidelines for the Evidence-based Treatment of Tourette Syndrome (call 1-800-361-3120 to order), we also offer professional development opportunities for clinicians at our annual National Conference on TS+. Educators For Educators & Allied Professionals Tourette Canada works with educators and allied professionals to advance its mission of improving the lives of individuals affected by Tourette Syndrome and Tourette Syndrome Plus. Each year, trained volunteers visit dozens of classrooms and school staff to raise awareness about Tourette Syndrome and associated conditions as part of Tourette Canadas acclaimed In-Service Program. Presentations on TS and TS+ are available both in-person and virtually and can be customized to any audience and age group. Tourette Canada also has a number of print resources designed to assist educators and other school staff in removing roadblocks to learning including the Educators Resource Kit (call 1-800-361-3120 to order). At our annual National Conference on TS+, Tourette Canada delivers a day of professional development sessions specifically designed for allied professionals in addition to a full-day of PD for educators.
