About this service
Worldwide, Lions clubs are recognized for their service to people who are blind and visually impaired. This service began when Helen Keller challenged Lions to become knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness Today, Lions extend their commitment to sight conservation through local efforts, as well as their international Sight First Program, which works to eradicate blindness in third world countries. The Sight First program is a US$215 million global initiative to fight the major causes of preventable and reversible blindness.
