Regional HIV/AIDS Connection is pleased to announce that as of August 5, the Carepoint Consumption and Treatment Serviceformerly TOPS (Temporary Overdose Prevention Site)will operate daily, including on statutory holidays, from 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM.
Carepoint Consumption and Treatment Service is Ontarios first officially-sanctioned temporary site for people to use their drugs safely and seek services for recovery. A record number of 58 people have died from opioid overdoses in London-Middlesex in the past year, making supervised consumption facilities sorely needed. These facilities have been shown to improve public order reducing needle waste and public injection as well as public health. People tend to use drugs in public areas because they dont have a safe location to do so otherwise. Supervised Consumption Facilities provide people with a safe and clean place to use drugs.
