About this service

The mission of Mashkawizii is to assist youth from the local Indigenous community to gain marketable life skills, while connecting with their culture and with other members of their community. Members will utilize their culture to creatively express the strengths among a highly stereotyped demographic.

This program allows participants to share their stories in a safe space with others who may share the same lived experiences helping them feel supported and understood through a platform that will allow their voices to be heard. Mashkawizii aims to be a stepping stone for healing from intergenerational trauma and systemic discrimination through a creative and therapeutic outlet.
