About this service
Figuring out your babys needs and basic cares are an intricate dance between you, your partner/support system and your baby. To help you learn some of the choreography, your midwife will visit you at home to provide support and answer your questions. Your midwife will carry out newborn screenings and physical examinations, including checks for babys weight, heart, lungs, umbilical stump healing and jaundice monitoring. After six weeks you and your baby will be discharged from midwifery care and will see your family doctor or pediatrician for your babys future care needs.
