An independently owned 31 bed facility located in the downtown core of Kitchener. Originally licensed under the Homes for Special Care Act since the mid 1960s, the home remains a viable supportive community living option in Kitchener / Waterloo for adults with serious mental health issues. Daring offers a warm, stable, home-like atmosphere where residents can feel secure, comfortable and can grow and develop while receiving assistance with daily living. Who can use it?
Referral eligibility minimum age of 18 years diagnosis of a serious mental illness not diagnosed with a developmental delay voluntary agreement to enter the cho program compliant with prescribed medication and follow-up not using or abusing alcohol, drugs or other substances not requiring complex care normally associated with long-term care facilities medically stable must be followed by a psychiatrist no recent history of uncontrolled violence no history of behaviour that poses a serious fire hazard priority will be given to clients currently in hospital versus community referrals does not experience mobility issues
