About this service
Carizons Community Resource Program (CRP) is designed to improve access to community mental health services for families with children ages 4 to 17 and is available throughout Waterloo Region. In this service, the Community Resource Workers and other community partners, including school boards, work together to develop and provide appropriate supports for children, youth, and families with mental health needs with goals of early intervention and prevention. Grounded in Wellness, Resilience, Trauma Informed, and Attachment-based philosophies and practice, Community Resource Workers offer mental health service navigation and support, and mental health consultation for caregivers in the community regarding concerns and related complex issues of children/youth. Services are offered in the form of one-time consultation meetings, parent workshops, psychoeducational groups, as well as community and mental health service navigation. CRP services are provided in various locations throughout Waterloo Region including community centres, public spaces, coffee shops, and Carizon office locations. Groups/Workshops CRP offers a variety of groups for children/youth, and workshops for caregivers each season. All CRP groups and workshops aim to promote the emotional wellbeing of children and youth. Consultation This service brings together caregivers and/or youth with a Community Resource Worker for a quick (60 minute) session to brainstorm resources and services that support child/youth wellbeing. This service is intended to briefly support learning about, or being directed towards, beneficial community resources. Resource Coordination This service supports youth and their caregivers who are facing barriers to accessing mental health services for children/youth. A Worker would support the family with identifying and connecting to resources that will support the childs wellbeing.
