Heres what you need to know about the unit Admissions to the inpatient unit are through the emergency department or our outpatient services; This is a 52-bed short stay unit for patients who require the safety and intensity of a hospital admission; and Six of these beds are in a more secured area called the psychiatric intensive care area or PICA which is for individuals who need the highest level of care in a secure and safe environment.
