Services being provided by Indigenous Community Justice Program during COVID-19 Pandemic
Although the Indigenous Community Justice Program cannot provide typical services during social distancing measures, contact with clients and stakeholders continues to be extremely important in order for circle and healing plans to resume when possible. During this difficult time the Indigenous Community Justice Coordinator is maintaining contact with any referrals made from the pre-charge and post charge context. Contact with court stakeholders (eg: Legal Aid Ontario and the OPP) will be maintained to provide updates with respect to referrals to the Indigenous Community Justice Program.
When social distancing measures have relaxed the Indigenous Community Justice Coordinator will resume attendance at First Appearance Court and begin the intake process with referrals made while social distancing measures were in place.
