About this service
The Transition to Adulthood group is for young adults aged 17 23 who are preparing for adult life after finishing high school. Meal planning, grocery shopping, cooking, handling money and learning to take the bus are important life skills taught and practiced. There is an increased focus on life skills in this group as these young adults prepare for more independent living.
Individuals in the program also have the opportunity to choose activities that are of personal interest and receive support in planning them. Social and communication skills are honed during these age-appropriate activities.
Staff offers families help planning for life after high school and can provide assistance with the ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program) application process.
Some individuals in this program will transition to the main teaching unit at Woodview Manor, preparing for independent/semi-independent living while others may access part time adult recreational and social programs.
