About this service
ELL is an ESL conversation cafe run by volunteers at New City Church in Hamilton. We meet weekly over a cup of coffee and snacks to build friendships and practice English. The focus is on sharing ideas, growing in confidence, and expanding English communication abilities.
Our group is organized by a group of Christians who believe that all people deserve to be heard, understood, and appreciated. The majority of the evening is spent in small groups, discussing a different topic every week, including culture and current events. Each night concludes with a short devotion from the Bible, exploring Christian values as well as some of the nuances of English found in the text. All levels are welcome, but an intermediate/advanced understanding of English is helpful.
