About this service
What do we do?
We are a non-profit, community-based organization that provides basic (grade 1 5 equivalent) training in reading, writing, math and computer skills to English-speaking adults. Our service is free, private, and one-to-one. We have been assisting adults with their literacy skills since 1973.
How do we do it?
We train volunteers to provide one-to-one tutoring to adults aged 19 and over. We also run four small group classes three times a week.
Our Mission:
The Hamilton Literacy Council helps motivated adults improve their literacy skills, providing a strong foundation for adult learners to work towards their personal goals.
