About this service
Group Living Group Living Homes provide 24-hour staffing support to a mixed group of individuals aged 18 and over, who are developmentally disabled adults and who require daily supervision, care and support with multiple activities of daily living. The structure and organization of the group home will be conducive to a family style setting which provides support and training to facilitate integration into their home community. Each resident has a Person-Centered Plan and an Individual Training Program. Emphasis is on learning life skills related to personal hygiene, homemaking, meal preparation, money management, budgeting, grocery shopping, public transportation if applicable, safety, and community orientation/integration, to name a few. Each resident is treated in an age appropriate manner with an emphasis on personal dignity and value and is provided the opportunities to develop self-confidence, to be educated on rights and social behavior. Shared responsibilities in household tasks help increase the residents sense of belonging and develop independence and stability. Supported Independent Living This residential program provides a range of personalized supports to adults aged 18 and over, who live independently or semi-independently in the community, outside of their family home, and who need periodic guidance and support with instrumental activities of daily living such as grocery/personal shopping, meal preparation, money management, and overall household tasks. Individual skill development training is based on assessed needs. This program is based out of an apartment setting in the City of Greater Sudbury. Alternative Community Living Residents are supported under the group living mandate but are in their own apartments and being provided 24-hours support based on individual needs.
