Job Specific Training and Funding

One or two day training courses You may be eligible to receive financial assistance with short term training for common one or two day industry specific training courses such as Workplace Hazardous Information Material Information System (WHMIS), First Aid/CPR, Smart Serve and more. To get started provide your employment counselor with the following information: course name training provider cost Training costing over $1000 You may be eligible for financial assistance with more expensive training (over $1000) such as AZ or DZ truck driving, heavy equipment operator and more. How to get started Complete a Job Specific Skills Training Package (JSST) (PDF, 680 KB) and submit it to your employment counsellor. Information in this package must include: local labour market information course description/acceptance information a request for training letter and other necessary information. Deadline Submit your package to your employment counsellor at least four weeks before training begins. They will be reviewed for eligibility. Specialty Training Programs When funding is available, speciality training programs are delivered to meet current local labour market demand in specific occupations. Programs have included training for: personal support workers carpentry labourers cooks welders truck drivers bricklayers and other specialty training.
