About this service
Aging can sometimes be accompanied by complicated health issues that affect a person's sense of independence, behaviour, emotions and overall well-being. Some individuals notice that performing regular day-to-day activities is increasingly difficult or they feel differently about their daily lives as they age. In other cases, it is a family member, friend or health professional who notices a change in the older individual. The Seniors Mental Health Outreach Team assists individuals and their family members living in the Districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin, by providing service directly in the community, where the older person lives. The program helps individuals who are 60 years of age and over and have a recent onset of: Depression Anxiety Memory deterioration or confusion Behavioural difficulties associated with dementia or other degenerative conditions Hallucinations Overwhelming fear of harm Feelings of social isolation Alcohol and drug misuse Caregiver stress
