We have an Employment Ontario Program that is responsive to your needs. Our Employment Specialists will help guide you to linkages in programming that are best designed to help increase your potential to secure and maintain employment, pursue a career, and / or training and education opportunities. (Shaping Careers for Youth through Learning & Development) Introducing a new youth program at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario! Shaping Careers for Youth through Learning & Development (S.C.Y.L.D.) is an innovative way for youth to gain the valuable skills they need to find meaningful employment. You are: 15-30 years old (inclusive) Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person legally entitled to work in Canada and according to provincial regulations You get: 3 weeks of employment skills training 5-week paid quality employment experience assistance in obtaining accredited skills training Candidates must be able to commit to 3 weeks of virtual workshops Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Personalized Job Search Strategies Employment Training Supports Job Retention Support Employment Training Programs: Youth Job Connection and Youth Job Connection Summer The Youth Job Connection Program is a great initiative to help youth learn more about their skills and abilities, by exploring their career options. A year-round component, which provides intensive employment supports for youth aged 15 to 29 who are not in employment, education or training. A summer component, which equips youth between 15-18 years of age with summer, part-time and after-school job opportunities. Supports include (are not limited to): Pre-employment training to assist in job and career related readiness Job matching and job placements On the job support from our experienced Consultants Ontario Disability Support Program Support-Employment Services When you qualify for ODSP Employment Supports, we help you find a job which matches your talents, skills and interests. What to expect: One to one support to identify your employment goals Professional resume and cover letter creation Interview practice On the job support to help maintain employment Employment supports support with applying for assistive devices The Canada-Ontario Job Grant (COJG) is a Government-funded grant that offsets the cost of training for new and existing employees. Large employers (100 or more employees) pay at least 1/2 of direct training costs, up to $10,000 per trainee Additional flexibility for small employers (fewer than 100 employees) to contribute 1/6 of eligible training costs. Small employers who are training and hiring unemployed individuals may be eligible for 100% funding and up to $15,000 per trainee. Support now available towards the cost of textbooks, software and other training materials and travel costs Employer selects employees to be trained and appropriate training offered by eligible third-party trainers With FREE access to : Computers with Internet access for career related activities Faxing Services Photocopying Services Information Sessions Community Resources Apprenticeship Information
