After School Programs

Our after School programs operate five days a week for children who are between nine and thirteen years of age. These programs allow children to participate in a wide variety of structured activities while allowing them to grow and be nurtured in a safe, confidential environment. The after school programs offer homework support, creative and educational games, sports, arts and crafts, outings, educational activities on computers, leadership activities, cultural celebrations. A nutritious snack served on a daily basis according to the Nutrition Guidelines set out by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services through the Student Nutrition Program. Registration Process To qualify for our registration, children must live or go to school in the Flour Mill/Donovan neighbourhood. All our programs are FREE. Services Homework/Tutoring Staff help children with their homework, if children do not have homework they are provided with homework pages or they can read a book Literacy Instruction Books are provided for the children and children are assisted by the staff. The staff also helps the children with grammar and spelling One to One mentoring The children discuss their day to day challenges of home, family, friends and school with the staff on a regular/daily basis. Nutrition A healthy snack is provided for children daily. Computer Instruction There are computers and internet access available for the children are allowed to research projects and type assignments as well as educational games are provided. Hands on Math/Science Science workshops, science experiments mathematics are incorporated in the day to day program activities. Art Instruction Art projects are available for the children to encourage creativity. Recreational Play Structured and unstructured physical activities are organized as part of the program. There are organized athletic activities such as soccer, baseball, hockey, basketball, volleyball, tennis, lacrosse, badminton, skating. Fun days Theme days are organized such as indoor camping, Hawaiian days, pajama day, Halloween celebrations, pirates cove, super heroes, Christmas party etc Field trips (during the summer months) A trip to Manitoulin Island (the children went swimming at Bridal Veil Falls, visited a museum in Manitowaning, visited Providence Bay), during the summer, day per week they go to the beach, Silver City, Imax, Flour Mill Museum, Police Station tour, Memorial Park , Fielding Park, Rainbow Cinemas and much more.

To qualify for our registration, children must live or go to school in the flour mill/donovan neighbourhood.

After School Programs is open Monday 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Tuesday 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Wednesday 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Thursday 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Friday 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm.
