The Organization Our Mission The Mission of The Royal Canadian Legion is to serve Veterans, which includes currently serving Military and RCMP members, and their families, to promote remembrance and to serve our communities and our country. Our Vision Is to be the most highly respected Canadian volunteer service organization, dedicated to serving Veterans, including currently serving Military and RCMP members, and their families, to providing effective national leadership on Remembrance and to selflessly serve our communities and our country. Purpose & Objects (Summarized) To promote unity among all who have served; to further among them the spirit of comradeship and mutual help; to pass on to their families and descendants the traditions for which they stand; to perpetuate the memory and deeds of the fallen; to promote and care for memorials to their valour and sacrifice, to provide suitable burial, to keep an annual memorial day and to preserve the records and memories in perpetuity; to educate public opinion regarding national duties to the dead, the disabled and others who have served, and their dependents; to strive for peace, goodwill and friendship among all nations. It is published in a four-colour format, covering stories about Canadians, Canadas institutions its military and its heritage. Provincially Each province has an office known as a Command of The Royal Canadian Legion as granted under the Dominion Charter of Act of Parliament. Each Command is subject to the jurisdiction of Dominion Command, under the provisions of the Act of Incorporation and the General By-Laws of The Royal Canadian Legion. http://on.legion.ca Municipally Each branch, although under the jurisdiction of Provincial Command and the Dominion Command General By-Laws, must conform to the municipal by-laws of the city, town or district in which it is situated. The branch is the 'heart' of the Legion. The strength of the organization is measured by the activities of its branches.
