About this service
Immunization saves lives and helps keep deadly viruses and bacteria under control. In the last 50 years, immunization has saved more lives in Canada than any other health intervention. The Northwestern Health Unit offers immunization services to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
A vaccine-preventable disease can strike at any time in Canada because all of these diseases still circulate in the world. The germs that cause these diseases will find those who are not protected. Diseases can spread through the air we breathe or through the environment. You cannot prevent contact between others who may not be immunized (you wont even know), so the best way to stay safe is to be immunized.
