Active Recovery Clinic - Osteoporosis Therapy Program

Clients will undergo a detailed physical assessment by both our registered physiotherapist and certified kinesiologist. Both are trained in the assessment and treatment of osteoporosis. The assessment will determine the clients exercise ability, risk level for fractures as well as their balance and agility. An individualized program will be developed for each client and involves the following:

• Supervised posture, balance, mobility and weight bearing exercises
• Education re osteoporosis
• Education re activities of daily living
• Cardiovascular
• Access to the *Melioguide website
• Goal setting

Our program takes place over 12 weeks and the client usually attends once per week for supervision and progression of exercises. The client will attend more often if he/she requires pain management. Upon completion of the program, the clients are reassessed and results compared to the initial evaluation to determine if goals were met and if the client is ready to move onto the next level.
