Chapleau Child Care Centre

The Centre offers a variety of programs to the community which encompasses the needs of parents, caregivers and children from birth to twelve years of age. Together, our staff aspires to deliver quality service, including a safe, nurturing and inviting environment, nutritious meals and fun-filled days both indoors and outdoors, that facilitate growth and friendships.

Infants During the month of August, we will be enjoying our walks, watching and listening for different sounds like birds, trucks etc. We will be going outside as much as we can building sand castles, having water play, drawing with chalk. On rainy days we will be exploring all kinds of textures which may get messy so just a little reminder to send extra clothing. Toddlers August is now here! In the month of August, we are going to be practicing sign language and trying to use more words. We are going to have circle time every morning and during the circle time we are going to be looking at one-word pictures. I will also be reading plenty of books to the children to help them understand and hear words. Also, when I am talking to the children, I will be on their level so they can see my mouth and can understand and pick up on what Im saying. We will also be doing lots of colouring and painting and I will be asking a lot of questions to help them use their words to tell me what is on the picture. We have already been practicing this and there is some change in the childrens language. We would also like to go to the splash park sometime during August. I will be sending home permission slips to the parents. This is a good start to the childrens communication skills and to help them build their language.Preschool JUNIOR GROUP For the month of August our class will be observing our Luna moth caterpillars to see how big they will grow. We will enjoy the beautiful weather riding bikes, building sandcastles and having water play. We also plan to bring in more sensory bins to explore different materials using our 5 senses. SENIOR GROUP In August, the Senior Preschool room will be continuing with school preparation. We will continue with letters and counting but also work in some other skills, such as engaging in table activities for longer periods of time and self-help skills to strengthen their independence. With the start of their school adventure quickly approaching I also plan to be having conversations about school with the children so that they have a clearer understanding of what they can expect as well as try to find out what they are excited and/or worried about when school starts. School Age August is here and summer is going well!! Just as last month, we have developed a very rough daily schedule for the summer, and a list of daily duties. The children are constantly volunteering to help, and becoming more independent with their duties. We have a good routine going. This month we are going to clear our garden, play sports, and possibly do tie-dye experiments. We will still be going on outings at least once a week, to the park, beach, splash pad or library. Since the weather is warm and sunny, we will be spending every day outside, utilizing the gazebo as our indoor space. We have a bunch of creative children in our group so the gazebo is filled with art supplies to keep us very busy. We also have a chill area for reading and board game area.
