About this service
Through its Food Bank and Thrift Store, MFR provides great buys on household items, clothing, and other donated items while raising funds to provide emergency food to struggling families and individuals.
On average, the Food Bank offers support to approximately 310 people a month, a large percentage of whom are children. Volunteers work year-round creating food baskets for families in need, with families and individuals able to access this required service up to once a month. The Christmas season is a particularly busy time for the volunteers, as they prepare more than 850 Christmas Baskets for Manitoulin Island families in an effort to ensure a festive season for all. Were proud to see the amazing strength of our community and glad to be able to help a large number of families in the area.
