About this service
TechGyrls is a 12-week program that strives to create safer spaces where participants are encouraged to explore and build confidence within STEM/STEAM activities. TechGyrls provides hands-on learning and covers a wide range of topics to help participants better understand the breadth of opportunities that exist for them in STEM and the ways in which they can use those skills to make a difference in the world. Throughout the program, participants are able to guide the learning and activities and hear from those working within the STEM field. Participants have the ability to take part in a range of activities that are tailored to their interests. Some groups have built and tested catapults, used a 3D printer to create prosthetic hands and even experimented with robotics.These activities are able to strengthen STEM interests in cis and trans girls, non-binary and Two-Spirit youth by creating a safe space to interact in science and tech. This program is generously funded by Economic and Social Development Canada with additional support from Rockwell Automation.
