About this service
SOO has identified partner camps who support a unified philosophy of participation. Supporting a meaningfully inclusive (unified) environment presents a unique opportunity to bring young campers with intellectual disabilities into more mainstream summer recreation. According to SOO and all our partner camps, a camper is a camper is a camper.
Special Olympics Ontario representatives personally provide training to camp staff providing comprehensive training on how to adapt communications, activities, routines, and/or daily activities to ensure all campers are included and supported. Each camp commits to working with SOO as well as the campers family to ensure holistic and, where necessary, personalized care is provided.
