CHRISTMAS SHARING PROGRAM - BELLEVILLE

The Christmas Sharing Program is a Canadian charity established in 1967 in Belleville. It was created by a group of individuals who aimed to help underprivileged children. It has since expanded and now supports around 3,300 adults and children with food costs over the Christmas period. The charity is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and relies solely on community donations, as it does not receive governmental funding. They host various local fundraising activities, though some have been limited due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The organization provides support within specific boundaries, including the city of Belleville, Thurlow Township, and others, and individuals and families with low income in these areas are encouraged to apply. They offer a food basket and/or grocery gift cards, and children below ten years are referred to the Firefighters Toy Drive. They also coordinate with the Community Cares Holiday Meal Program to cater to homebound individuals during Christmas. The registration for these benefits starts every November.
