About this service
Specialized Seniors Care is an acute medicine unit. This 34 bed unit cares for patients over 65 years of age with presence of geriatric syndrome and acute illness. Our aim is to enhance or maintain the health status and quality of life of older adults who have complex medical issues. Our healthcare team consists of physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, registered practical nurses, patient care assistants, behavioural support therapist, dietitians, pharmacists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, recreation therapists, elder life specialist, geriatrician, geriatric phycologist, a discharge planner, social worker, a respiratory therapist, a speech language pathologist, unit clerks, chaplin and volunteers. Each member has a specific role to play to ensure seamless integration of care and together, they strive to provide exceptional care to each patient and family.
