GD - In School Programs

As an Official Partner of the Durham District School Board, Girls Inc. of Durham provides a number of programs designed specifically for school settings. Each program supports girls, as they develop their strengths and capabilities, through weekly academic assistance and enrichment activities in reading and literacy, leadership development and bullying prevention, health and sexuality, and substance use prevention.

All programs follow a girl-centered, youth development approach by incorporating girls ideas, perspectives and voices throughout program implementation and planning. By engaging girls as problem-solvers, program delivery focuses on a combination of strategies to promote girls development, expand their range of challenging experiences, and increase their opportunity to form supportive relationships.
