About this service
YWCA Sutherland House is an 8 bed facility in Fort Smith. It is staffed 24/7 to provide safety and support for women, and their children experiencing violence. YWCA Sutherland House also operates a 24 hour crisis line 7 days a week. A woman can stay for up to six weeks, depending on her needs, and circumstances. Children, including boys up to 14 years old, are welcome to stay with their mother.
YWCA Sutherland House offers individual support, safety planning, weekly in-house groups on topics such as education and awareness on the dynamics of family violence, and life skills support. Shelter staff provide emotional support, advocacy, and referrals for women accessing our services.
