About this organization
Victims of Family Violence Association, the board of directors that oversee the operation of the Third Place Transition House, was formed in 1982 when a group of agency personnel noticed that many agencies were dealing in isolation with cases of domestic violence. To address the safety of women and children fleeing abuse and violence, the board sought the help of community members to open their homes to provide short term emergency shelter, and safe homes operated for six years.
