The Citizenship Identification Office (CIO) implemented and is maintaining a standardized process for all incoming applications and existing NCNS Membership files that includes document scanning, data entry, file management, supplementary genealogy research and analysis.
The CIO collects and organizes genealogical information and historical documents that relate to contemporary and historic Mikmaq/Aboriginal families and communities in both Nova Scotia and the Atlantic region.
In the process the CIO is able to provide informed recommendations to the NCNS Citizenship Committee through critical analysis of incoming applications and genealogy documentation.
